From my childhood until now, I’ve been a lifelong fan, student, and practitioner of martial arts.  I love martial arts.  Be it traditional kung-fu, karate,  BJJ, or modern MMA; I love them all. But the more I participated, learned, and studied, the more I realized that every self-defense class I’ve taken has failed to teach “self-defense.”  Yes, I can now punch, strike and kick with great force. I have learned to throw a man across a room, break bones, and cause fatal injury. But what that has taught me is what to do when every other defensive technique has failed.  While I am no pacifist, I know the likely outcome of an all-out fight and would much prefer to avoid it.

In my quest to become a Total Weapon, I realized there are four additional steps in the self-defense pyramid before the first push or punch is thrown.  Where does one go to learn these steps? Who teaches how to deter a conflict before it starts? In this day and age, people of all ages need to know how not to be victims, and to defuse a conflict.

The idea of the Total Weapon Project is to team up with community leaders, martial arts schools, and other organizations to teach all the levels of the self-defense pyramid. Not just how to defend oneself.

The best weapon in the world is knowledge. The Total weapon project will be a single place to learn and improve regardless of martial arts style or skill level. This is the purpose of both this website and my series of books “What To Do If…” At this time the first book is available here on Amazon.
